CARRSVILLE
The Virginia Department of Transportation is scheduled start the demolition, removal and replacement of a bridge over CSX Railroad on Route 58 Business (Carrsville Highway) on Thursday, March 10. Construction is expected to be completed by November 2017.

The $6.7 million project, awarded to Bryant Contracting Inc., will replace the existing structurally deficient bridge that was built in 1936. The new structure will widen the roadway with 12-foot travel lanes and 8-foot shoulders, and will provide the required 23-foot minimum clearance over the railroad tracks.

“During the project’s entirety, the road will close and a signed detour will be in place,” said VDOT Senior Public Affairs Specialist Tiffany Whitfield.
