PUBLIC NOTICE
INVITATION FOR BIDS
DREWRYVILLE WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VIRGINIA

Sealed bids for the above referenced project will be received at the County Administrator’s Office, Southampton County Office Center, 26022 Administration Center Drive, Courtland, VA 23837 until 2:00 P.M., local prevailing time, March 16, 2016, and then publicly opened immediately thereafter.

Bids may be withdrawn in accordance with the Code of Virginia Section 2.2-4330 (B) (1).

The project consists of the following work:

a) Painting and installation of an existing 20,000 gallon water storage tank.
b) Installation of booster pumps and associated piping.
c) Installation of a well pump and associated piping.
d) Incidental related work.

The contract will be awarded on a lump sum basis.

A pre-bid conference will be held at 10:00 A.M. on March 3, 2016 in the County Administrator’s Office, Southampton County Office Center, 26022 Administration Center Drive, Courtland, VA  23837.

Bid documents in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF) may be obtained from WW Associates, Inc., P.O. Box 4119, Lynchburg, VA 24502 upon receipt of a nonrefundable payment of $50.00. Faxed checks are not acceptable. Bidder must include complete street address with zip code for use by express delivery agencies, and complete mailing address with zip code to avoid delay in receiving transmittals. Bidder must include telephone and fax numbers with area code, and e-mail address.

Bid Security: Bids shall be accompanied by a certified check or an acceptable bid bond in the amount of 5 percent of the base bid.

Bidders must be licensed as contractors in the Commonwealth of Virginia in accordance with Title 54.1, Chapter 11 of the Code of Virginia (1950) as amended.

MBE/WBE firms are encouraged to submit bids. Bidders must comply with the following: the President’s Executive Order No. 11246 prohibiting discrimination in employment regarding race, color, creed, sex, or national origin; the President’s Executive Order Nos. 12138 and 11625 regarding utilization of MBE/WBE firms; the President’s Executive Order No. 13658 regarding minimum wages on federal funded construction contracts, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Davis-Bacon Act and Section 436 of P.L. 113-76, American Iron and Steel. Bidders must certify that they do not or will not maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on the basis of race, color, creed, or national origin.
