City recognizes retirees

FRANKLIN
Several City of Franklin retirees were recognized at the last council meeting. All recipients were there and able to accept their resolution of appreciation in person on Monday night.

Wanda B. Cotton was recognized for her service in the police department for the last 23 years. She began working at the department part-time in October 1992, and became a full-time dispatcher in May 1994. Cotton’s official last day of work was Dec. 31, 2015.

Virginia B. Carr was recognized for her service in the Department of Social Services for 34 years. She started as an Eligibility Worker in December 1981, until obtaining the role of Benefit Program Specialist III. Carr also retired on Dec. 31, 2015.

Carolyn B. Doughtie was recognized for her service in the Department of Social Services for 27 years in the City of Franklin and Southampton County. She started as an Eligibility Worker until obtaining the role of Benefit Program Specialist II and retiring on Jan. 31, 2016.

Lonnie L. Norman was recognized for his 25 years of service for the City of Franklin. He started as a Laborer and retired on Dec. 31, 2015 as a Motor Equipment Operator II.

All of city council thanked them for their service and hard work they put in over the years for the city. As the retirees left the meeting, Mayor Raystine Johnson-Ashburn noted that all together, the four employees had donated over a 100 years of service to the City of Franklin.
