CHESAPEAKE — Steve L. Bynum of Gust Lane departed this life to claim his eternal rest on Feb. 21, 2016.

He was born in Southampton County on Dec. 1, 1956, to Jimmie L. and Laura Claud Bynum.

Steve attended the Franklin Public Schools and he graduated from Franklin High School.

During his life, he had many employment opportunities but most recently he owned and operated Home Maintenance Service.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jimmie Lewis Bynum Jr. and James L. Bynum.

He leaves to cherish his memory five sisters, Louise Bynum Boyd (Seth), Diane Bynum Jones (Jimmy), Gracie Bynum Glast, Angela Bynum and Yvonne Bynum; four brothers, Joe Frank Bynum, Joseph Bynum, Kenneth Bynum and Mark Bynum; one uncle, Joe Frank Claud (Margaret); and nieces, nephews and many cousins.

The homegoing celebration will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, in Shiloh Baptist Church, 30188 Shiloh Road, Boykins, with the Rev. D.S. Riddick Jr. delivering the eulogy; the Rev. Lillie Faison is the pastor. The interment will be in Mount Tabor Church Cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
