Vergil O. Wall

ZUNI — Vergil Oliver Wall was born in Sanford, North Carolina, on Sept. 6, 1938, and passed away on Feb. 20, 2016.
He was an Air Force veteran, and had retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 37 years of service, having worked for nine years (1967-1976) as a foreman on the Virginia Beach toll road and 28 years (1976-2004) as superintendent of the Berlin-Ivor district office.
He was the owner of Wall & Son Lawn Service.
An active member of Black Creek Baptist Church, he served as a deacon, Building and Grounds chairman, member of the Berean Sunday School Class, and a member of the Black Creek Rollers bowling team. Vergil enjoyed fishing, playing hearts and other games with family and close friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Elaine Williams Wall; his mother, Kathleen Graham Wall; sister, LaVerne Brissette; brother, Fred Wall; daughters, Deborrah Cisneros (Earnest), Melissa Andre (Mike), Rebecca Strozier (Bryan), Ann-Marie Lee (Jon); sons, Davy Wall, Joshua Wall, Matthew Wall (Claire); grandchildren, Stephen Bulls, Blake Bulls, Raelene Cisneros, Connor Cisneros, Trevor Andre, Emily Andre, Shane Andre, Amelia Jane Strozier, Sarah Strozier, Naomi Strozier, Maggie Kate Strozier, Phoebe Strozier, Briannon Wall, Desiree Wall, Luke Wall, Hagan Wall, Logan Lee, Corbin Lee, Evan Lee, James Wall, Megan Wall and Caleb Wall.
Mr. Wall was predeceased by his father, Ellis Oliver Wall, and a grandson, Tyler Cisneros.
The family will receive friends in Black Creek Baptist Church today, Feb. 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and requests written stories and memories of how Vergil touched your lives to extend his legacy for future generations.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Black Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kitts officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
