Semi avoids school bus, overturns on Route 58

A tractor trailer heading eastbound on Southampton Parkway on Wednesday afternoon narrowly avoided hitting a school bus when it flipped into a ditch. The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries; the bus was not involved.

“He was charged with failure to maintain,” said Virginia State Police trooper E.R. Whitehead. “He’ll have to go to court, and there will be a fine assessed.”
Route 58 near the Southampton-Greensville County line was closed for roughly 45 minutes and crews worked to remove the tractor trailer from the ditch.
