As part of its annual reorganizational meeting on Monday night, the Southampton County Board of Supervisor reappointed chairman Dallas O. Jones and vice chairman Ronald West to their respective positions.

State statutes require each local governing body to resolve certain organizational matters at its first session of the new year, which includes electing a chairman and vice chairman and setting monthly meeting times.

Jones, who represents the Drewryville District, was unanimously reappointed by his colleagues to serve a 13th year as chairman of the board.

“Thank you, gentleman,” Jones said. “I’ll try to live up to your expectations.”

West, who serves the Berlin-Ivor District, retained the position he has held for the past three years.

The supervisors also unanimously agreed to hold meetings at 6 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at the Southampton County Administration Center, as has been the case for since January 2013. The public forum commences an hour later, as the closed session portion of the meeting is held first.

If the chairman and/or vice chairman are unable to attend the regularly scheduled meeting, or if hazardous conditions do not allow the public to attend, it will take place the following business day at the same time and place.
