FRANKLIN — Bertie Etheridge Trump, 89, widow of the Rev. Donald E. Trump, passed away at home on Sunday morning Jan. 17, 2016, after a long and hard battle with dementia/Alzheimer’s since 2009.

She was a daughter of the late Vernon and Eva Etheridge of the Back Bay area of Princess Anne County, Virginia.

Mrs. Trump was an active member of Colosse Baptist Church and was married to Rev. Donald Trump for 52 years before his passing in 2000. She retired from the city of Franklin Department of Social Services. She was a great mother and wife and all her grandchildren called her Granny.

Left to cherish her memory are children Diana Drake (William) of Oahu, Hawaii; Donald Trump (Pamela) of Williamsburg; Dexter Trump (Margaret) of Franklin; Douglas Trump of Franklin; and Dale Trump (Wesley) of Wilson, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lena “Betty” Henley, Florence “Flo” Nicklas, Anita “Nita” Harrell, Louise Harrell and Bennie “Ben” Etheridge.

Mrs. Trump was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers, Mildred Wilson, William “Tony” Etheridge, Vernon “Jack” Etheridge, Rosa “Polly” Flora, Edward ”Dick” Etheridge, Harrison “Harry” Etheridge and Jerome “Jerry” Etheridge.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, in Colosse Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends in Wright Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and suggests memorial donations be made to Colosse Baptist Church, 6361 Rhodes Dr., Windsor, VA 23487.
