SUFFOLK — Benjamin Jackson Holland, 103, departed this life on Jan. 7, 2016.

A native of Suffolk, he was the widower of Naomi Copeland Holland, and a son of the late Willis and Naomi Holland.

Mr. Holland, a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, had an infectious community spirit. The Inspirational Group Home Visits to the sick and shut-in, and singing were just some of the activities he happily shared with others.

Survivors include a brother, James E. Darden of Hampton, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; cousins, godchildren; and a host of other family and friends

His service will be conducted at noon on Friday, Jan. 15, with viewing beginning at 11 a.m. in the church. The Rev. William L. Lang, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins, Virginia, is in charge of the arrangements.
