Nannie Felts Council

Mrs. Council, the widow of B. Alton Council Jr., was a daughter of the late William Thomas Felts and Lillie Joyner Felts.

She was a native and longtime resident of Ivor, and early in her life she worked at the Virginia Diner in Wakefield. Later, she was also a stay-at-home mom, and then for 27 years she drove a school bus to Ivor Elementary School and worked in the cafeteria.

She was an active member of Ivor Baptist Church where she wore many hats including some of her favorites, the nursery and bible school. She could be seen at church most anytime the door was open. Mrs. Council was an avid quilter and loved being with her many friends.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Billie Fay Coleman and husband, Steve Coleman; and Beverly Council Bryant and husband, Jerry Bryant; four sisters, Dorothy Wade, Louise Pittman, Francis Lassiter and Betty Jo Abernathy; one brother, Bobby Felts; four grandchildren, Ginny Holloway (Brody), Steven Coleman (Tammy), Michael Bryant (Mecalah) and Bentrick Bryant (Mary); 13 great-grandchildren, Kilby, Tucker, Lailee, Juliet and Moses Holloway, Blake, Brooke, Brysen, Shyla and Wyatt Coleman, Asher, Harper and Bellamy Bryant.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with Pastor Steve Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of Beverly and Jerry Bryant, 301 Meadow Lane, Franklin, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and suggests that memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Council to Ivor Baptist Church.
