Two students earn national scholar reading award

At the last Franklin School Board meeting on Dec. 17, two students were recognized for being the number one scholars in the nation for reading, in the Pearson SuccessMaker Program.

Nacari Wiggins, a fifth-grader at S.P. Morton Elementary School, was the scholar for the month of October, and Emily Benton, who is also a fifth grade student at S.P. Morton, was the scholar for the month of November.

Jason Chandler, principal of S. P. Morton, presented both Wiggins and Benton with plaques during the meeting and had the two students lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

SuccessMaker is part of the Pearson Education Program. It is the only continuous kindergarten through eighth-grade reading and math program with over 50 years of proven results. The program personalizes learning paths for mastery of reading and math skills. It also uses one-on-one instruction, real engagement and fun activities to help the students succeed in the program.
