FRANKLIN
Members of the Franklin Firefighters and Medics Association Local 4517, Franklin Fire and Rescue Volunteers and Franklin Social Services came together and to donate Christmas presents and a meal to a needy family. The family went to Franklin Fire and Rescue Station 1 on Tuesday, where the presents were waiting for them to open underneath a Christmas tree.

“We are happy to serve the community alongside the firefighters,” Jennifer McReynolds and Alice Adoga of Franklin Social Services said. “It has been a lot of fun.”

Markiquita Holloman; her son, Joshua, 6; and her daughter, Joy, 2, were all very happy and thankful for the donations.

“We love getting to see them [the children] open the presents,” McReynolds and Adoga said.

Scott Maynard of Local 4517 added, “We went shopping Dec. 15, and just picked out presents that were appropriate for the kids’ ages. It was a great joy seeing the kids facial expressions as they were opening the gifts.”

Wendall Lowe, Cody Harrison, Charles Smith and Samantha White from Franklin Fire and Rescue were also able to be there to watch the children open their Christmas gifts.

Joshua said his favorite gift was the legos and Joy said hers was a doll.

A ham, turkey and ingredients to make different side dishes were also donated to the family so they are able to have a big Christmas meal on Friday.

“It’s nice to give back to the community and give the kids a Merry Christmas,” Maynard added.
