Southampton High girls basketball played Sussex in a home game on Monday night. The Lady Indians beat the Tigers, 46-45.

“It was a good ball game – hard from the start. Both teams were neck-and-neck the entire game,” coach Littleton Parker said. “We tied it up and went into overtime. It was a tough ball game. Both teams played really well.”

Scoring for the game include: Ja’maya Hunt with 19 points, Bryona Knight with 13 points, Jordan Lee with 12 points and Latoya Lashley with 2 points.

The Lady Indians fell short at Brunswick Wednesday night, with a score of 38-8.

“It was just one of those night, you have them sometimes,” Parker said. “We are still going to rebound today though and play better tomorrow night [tonight].”

The team will play Greensville County in a home game tonight beginning at 6 p.m.

Southampton’s girls basketball team and Windsor’s girls basketball team will be in a Christmas tournament with Sussex and Colonial Heights on Tuesday, Dec. 29, and Wednesday Dec. 30.

Tuesday night Windsor will play Colonial Heights in the first game at 6 p.m., and Southampton will play Sussex in the second game at 8 p.m.

On that Wednesday night, the losers from both games on the previous night will play the first game, and the winners will play the second game for the championship.

This tournament is taking place at Southampton High School.
