Trash has increased since deer season began

To the Editor:

As an avid outdoors person in Isle of Wight County I couldn’t help but notice the appalling amount of trash on Blackwater Road and River Run Trail where I jog. There is always some litter which I regularly collect, but since the start of deer hunting season the amount of beer cans and bottles, Gatorade and soft drink plastic, all manner of fast food trash, Burger King, McDonald’s, DQ, Bojangles, etc., large empty cellophane bags that contained pork rinds, Chex mix and on and on has quadrupled.

It’s hard for me to believe that the anti-litter campaign is completely lost on the individuals making this mess. Shame on you! Is it so hard to put your mess in your vehicle and dispose of it in a trash can?

It saddens me to see all manner of garbage on our country roads that we share in this beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia.

Please, people, you can do better.
