FRANKLIN
Several children along with their families came out to Downtown Franklin on Thursday night to see Santa at the annual Elf Parade.

While looking for him to show up, the children received elf hats in red or green. Mrs. Claus and a couple of her helpers waited with them in the parking lot next to the Visitor’s Center.

On arrival by firetruck, he got out and said, “Everyone come give Santa a hug.”

The children were extremely excited and ran to him as fast they could. He sat there and talked to them for a few minutes.

Everyone then walked to Barrett’s Landing together where Santa’s new sleigh, cookies and hot chocolate were waiting.

Santa sat in his sleigh and the children were able to climb up in and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. Mrs. Claus handed out candy-canes.

This is a community favorite for many, especially for all of the children. Several parents said their kids talk about this all year because they like the event so much.

Other people came out for the first time this year, and said they were really enjoying themselves and that they will be making this a family tradition.

Kayden Pierce, 5, said as she waited to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas, “This is my first time coming to the elf parade. I’m having a lot of fun so far. I want him to bring me an American Girl Doll for Christmas.”

American Girl Dolls seemed to be a very popular gift that was asked for by the girls, and many of the boys asked for Star Wars-themed toys.
