Bronco Federal Credit Union is supporting local business by hosting a shop local promotions, #BFCUshoplocal, for BFCU VISA credit card holders over the next few weeks. The promotion begins this Saturday, Nov. 21, and ends on Sunday, Dec. 13.

There are weekly prices of $100 Visa gift cards and a grand prize of a $500 Visa gift card.

“Bronco loves to support our community and what better way to do so than to support local businesses and to keep money local,” said Chief Executive Officer Brian Hedgepeth of BFCU. “All of the small businesses featured in the #BFCUshoplocal promotion trust Bronco FCU as their financial institution and this campaign is one way we show them that we also appreciate their business.”

Consumers earn shopping stars by shopping local, transferring balances from other credit cards, making a cash advance and getting a new VISA if they don’t already have one.

A new VISA credit card purchased from Nov. 2 to Dec. 13 is worth 25 stars. Five stars are earned for each $100 in balance transfers or cash advances to a BFCU VISA credit card. Five stars are earned each time a purchase is made with a BFCU VISA credit card at any merchant in Frankling, Suffolk, Southampton Coutny or Isle of Wight County.

Ten stars are earned each time you use your BFCU VISA credit card at the selected merchants during their appointed week. Also, each time you use your card at one of these merchants you can enter to win a $100 VISA gift card.

Five bonus points are earned each time you take a picture at the business and publicly post it to social media with the hashtag #BFCUshoplocal.

The merchants’ appointed weeks are:

• Nov. 14-Nov. 22: Fred’s Restaurant, The Cat’s Meow, Floor to Ceiling and Richwood Graphics

• Nov. 23-Nov. 29: Moore Designs and Embroidery, Joe’s Pizza and Pasta Palace, Southern Charm Garden Center, Newsom’s Peanuts and Island Tan

• Nov. 30-Dec. 6: Smith’s Jewelers, Bubba’s Place/Franklin BP, Mackan’s Office Supply and Printing and Exodus Outdoors

• Dec. 7-13: Any of the vendors listed above
