Fall Festival kicks off holiday events

The 33rd Annual Franklin Fall Festival will be today and tomorrow. Tonight will be the Block Party at Barrett’s Landing and tomorrow will be the Street Festival in Downtown Franklin.

The schedule for the Block Party is as follows: Gates open at 6 p.m.; Franklin Fall Festival Restaurant Showcase will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in the Sponsorship Tent; Feature Attraction Band will play from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Strictly Bizzness will play from 8 to 11 p.m.

The Street Festival on Saturday is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be children’s games and activities provided by Coast 2 Coast, open amateur stages from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a talent contest with prizes from 11 to 2 p.m., food and refreshments, arts and crafts booths and more.

The Fall Festival is the start of many events that will be taking place in Downtown Franklin during the holiday season.

Shop owners in downtown are encouraging attendees to come in and shop in their businesses while at the festival and the other upcoming holiday events that will be taking place during the holiday season. Many businesses have brought in new products for the holiday season.

“We ask that you please make sure to visit all of the small businesses for their many holiday gifts,” said Mary Morris of Mackans Office Supply and Printing.

Saturday, Nov. 2, is the Downtown Franklin Association Christmas Open House with carriage rides. Businesses in the downtown area will be having various door prizes, discounts and refreshments during the event.

Small Business Saturday will be on Saturday, Nov. 28. If you take a selfie with a small business owner or with the goodies you have purchased and post it to Facebook with the hashtag #SHOPSMALLFS, you will have an opportunity to win a grand prize of gift cards from local shops and restaurants. Business owners are asking that you be creative with your post. The post must be made anytime from noon to 11:59 p.m. that day.

The Elf Parade and Community Tree Lighting is on Thursday, Dec. 3, and begins at 5:30 p.m.

Lastly, the City of Franklin 2015 Christmas Parade is on Friday, Dec. 4, and begins at 7 p.m.
