FRANKLIN
United States Congressman J. Randy Forbes will be in the area on Friday, Nov. 13. The Franklin-Southampton Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Franklin Rotary Club will be hosting Forbes for congressional comments and conversation at Southampton High School Tech Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The Chamber has hosted Congressman Randy Forbes annually for many years. These events allow attendees to learn of current federal issues and inform Congressman Forbes of concerns and challenges from our community,” Executive Director of Franklin-Southampton Area Chamber of Commerce Teresa Beale said.

This is the first time the event is being held at Southampton High. Those who attend the event will eat lunch prepared by students in the Southampton High School Culinary Arts Program. After the lunch, high school seniors from schools in the area have been invited to join the program.

“We are delighted to host Congressman Forbes and provide the opportunity for area students and business leaders to hear his message and present their questions,” Beale added.

Reservations are required for the event. The cost is $20 per person for Chamber members and $25 per person for prospective members. This cost includes networking lunch and the program. If you would like to make reservations or if you have questions you are asked to call 562-4900 or email Teresa@fsachamber.com.

“He is a champion for business and we are delighted to connect him with the local business community,” Beale continued. “In adjusting this years’ format and venue we are very excited to provide the chance for over 100 high school students representing Southampton, Franklin and Southampton Academy to join with local business representatives to hear his remarks and have their questions answered.

“We are grateful to the Franklin Rotary Club for partnering with the Chamber to present this program. Congressman Forbes and his office have always been very responsive to the needs of our community and we appreciate him taking the time to visit us,” she said.
