The party’s over — get (back) to work

Now that the votes have been cast and tallied and the winners have been announced, it’s time for the incumbents to again narrow their focus on the job at hand. That task being the efficient operation of governments in Southampton and Isle of Wight counties. For the newly elected, it’s an important time to prepare by continuing to research the issues facing their localities.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the voter turnout was noticeably low all around. Nevertheless, those residents who showed up took the time to make their choices clearly known. Thank you.
For the candidates who lost, they also deserve thanks for their willingness to offer people a choice. Our hope is that if they’re still serious about leading in the future, they should remain involved in their communities. This can be done by regularly attending board meetings, speaking with residents and supervisors and asking questions or offering solutions.
One more thing. Please take down your signs.
