COURTLAND — Melinda Clements Worrell, 66, passed away on Nov. 4, 2015, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Melinda was born in Roanoke Rapids, reared in Greensville County and was a graduate of Gaston NC High School and the Southampton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired nurse for Franklin OB-GYN, and was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church.

Melinda was predeceased by her father, Joseph Edward Clements, and leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Catherine Burnette Clements of Courtland, and her husband of 42 years, Allen Ray Worrell; two daughters, Melissa W. Young (Chad) of Roanoke, and Wendy W. Chavis (Jason) of Kents Store; one sister, Sheila C. Sloan (Greg) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one brother, Jeffrey Earl Clements of Emporia; and her six beloved grandchildren, Ayden and Blane Young, Luke, Jed, Vaughn and Charleston Chavis.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, in Courtland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andrew Book officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Courtland United Methodist Church or billygraham.org. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
