Haywood O. Barrett

BLACK CREEK — Haywood Owen Barrett, 94, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Southampton County, and was a son of the late Reuben and Gracie Barrett. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Edith Mae Goodrich Barrett, and two brothers, Harold and Boyd Barrett.

Mr. Barrett was a United States Marine Corps veteran, a member of Hunterdale Baptist Church and was retired from Planters Peanut Company in Suffolk.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Georgia R. Barrett; three daughters, Joyce B. Taylor (J.T.) of Eure, North Carolina, Joan B. Sobotor (Johnny) of Black Creek and Glenda B. Eure (Elridge) of Eure; two sons, William Tyrone Barrett (Diane) and Troy E. Barrett (Connie), all of Black Creek; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Roy and Lyle Cook; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, in Hunterdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Vinson officiating. Burial will follow at Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that memorial donations be made to Hunterdale Baptist Church.
