FRANKLIN
Brad Turner has been selected as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” by Inside Business: The Hampton Roads Business Journal. Turner is a senior firefighter in Chesapeake, co-owner of Southern Charm in Franklin and a member of the Franklin/Southampton Area Chamber of Commerce. Turner lives with his wife, Mary Ann, and two daughters, Elana and Ali, in Franklin.

“Brad has been an active Chamber Board member for several years,” said Executive Director of the FSA Chamber Teresa Beale. “He helped to develop and launch F.U.E.L., the Chamber’s young professionals group, and [he] brings a valuable young demographic view to our discussions. Brad works two full-time jobs, but finds time to make Franklin-Southampton a better place to live and raise a family. True entrepreneurs, Brad and his wife, Mary Ann, strive to enhance the community.”

The FSA Chamber nominated Turner for the honor.

As a senior firefighter, he is part of the Hazmart/WMD (Hazardous Material and Weapons of Mass Destruction) team and is a radiological officer. Turner is also the program manager for the monitoring and detection program.

His second job is as vice president, as well as co-owner of Southern Charm, a business he and his wife opened in 2008.

Southern Charm is a full- service garden center and landscaping company that offers residential and commercial installation and maintenance, located at 111 Commerce Park Road, Franklin.

Turner, his wife and a couple of friends also started Playful Minds Fun Center — a locker at Southampton Memorial Hospital that provides iPads, DVDs, coloring books, etc., to children when they are hospitalized.
