Middle school student wins national reading award

J.P. King Jr. Middle School seventh-grade student Aaliyah Eley won the SuccessMaker National Scholar of the Week Award for having the greatest national gains in SuccessMaker Reading.

“It feels good to win this award and it is really exciting to be the first kid from the school to win it,” Eley said.

Reading Specialist Stephanie Cox said, “We are all really proud of her.”

The school presented Eley with a certificate from SuccessMaker and a gift card to Walmart.

SuccessMaker is part of the Pearson Education Program. It is the only continuous kindergarten through eighth-grade reading and math program with over 50 years of proven results. The program personalizes learning paths for mastery of reading and math skills. It also uses one-on-one instruction, real engagement and fun activities to help the students succeed in the program.
