FRANKLIN
Franklin City Public Schools are now in partnership with Southampton Memorial Hospital, as the latter will be providing complimentary health education and screenings to members of the faculty during professional development meetings.

The meetings are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 10, but additional dates will be added.

The topics during these meetings will be discussed and agreed upon in advance with Superintendent Dr. Willie Bell and Coordinator of Pupil Personnel, Testing and Instruction Travis Felts.

The hospital has offered to set up a date and time in October for flu shots to be given to faculty at each school. The shots will cost $40 — they are quadrivalent flu shots, which is a broader spectrum injection that provides additional protection.

Athletic staff members and coaches will be provided complimentary concussion education. The hospital has also given the medical staff dates of home games and has asked them to volunteer their time.

Complimentary physicals will be offered to all students during May and June.

Southampton Memorial Hospital can offer new employee physicals, random drug screenings and nutrition in the workplace classes for a set price.

The hospital would also like to provide community outreach to the families of the FCPS. Southampton Memorial Hospital would like to partner with Paul D. Camp Community College at one of the parent/student meetings to discuss local healthcare career opportunities and provide an interactive healthcare related educational opportunity for students.
