Fatal accident occurs near Holland

HOLLAND
Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded in the early morning hours Friday to the scene of a fatal accident in the 6200 block of Holland Road. The accident happened at 6:25 a.m. and involved a Mercedes Benz SUV, which was attempting to travel westbound after exiting a service station and was struck on the driver’s side by an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the SUV, 63-year-old Clayretta C. Wilson of Chesapeake, was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult male of the other involved vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler, received emergency medical assessment and treatment and transported by ground to Sentara Obici Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Traffic was alternated for approximately six hours while investigators worked to clear the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
