Martha McDuffie Gibson

COURTLAND — Martha McDuffie Gibson, renowned local freelance artist, passed away on Oct. 3, 2015.

Mrs. Gibson was a native of Rockingham, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late George McDuffie, and predeceased by her husband, Timothy Alan Gibson, and a brother, Tim McDuffie.

She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church and the Blackwater Art League.

Survivors include her mother, Nina Craft McDuffie of Rockingham; a daughter, Ellen Michelle Gibson (Stu), and a brother, Mark McDuffie (Betty) of Pine Bluff, North Carolina; a close friend and second mother, Nell Lewis of Rockingham; her mother-in-law, Gertrude Parker Gibson of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; and two brothers-in-law, Marty Gibson (Roberta) of Conway and Pete Gibson (Suzanne) of Murfreesboro.

Martha will be taken from Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Virginia, to Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham, for the funeral and burial on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with the Rev. Andrew Book officiating.
