ISLE OF WIGHT
Isle of Wight senior running back Alec Edwards has been named the Western Tidewater Player of the Week following his 103-yard, two-touchdown effort against previously undefeated Richmond Christian on Friday night. The Chargers ran roughshod through the Warriors’ defense on their way to a 41-8 win.

“We try to be balanced, but we know to win that you have to establish a run game,” head coach Dale Chapman said after the game. “We don’t want to be predictable, either, but we are lucky enough to have three really good backs. When you have that many weapons, you use them.”

Pending the impending weather, third-ranked Isle of Wight travels to No.1 Fuqua tonight. Head coach Dale Chapman will look to Edwards to carry the load, especially with the possibility of a torrential downpour.

“It’s a big game; it can slingshot us to No. 1,” Chapman said. “I think we’ll be ready as we can be.”
