Pets can get their own blessing

Anyone with pets can tell you what a blessing they are in their lives, and next weekend, the critters will get a blessing of their own.The Rev. Lou Ventura of Franklin Presbyterian Church will lead a service on Saturday, Oct. 3, in the park across the street from City Hall on Second Avenue. The program starts with a short liturgy at 3 p.m., and will take place rain or shine, according to the pastor. The event is taking place in conjunction with the annual Franklin Fall Festival that weekend.

The Rev. Ventura said Franklin and Southampton residents are ���very much pet people,” and her own congregation as being “the most pet friendly” church she’s known.

Pet owners are asked to bring pet food and other supplies, and the pastor emphasized, “if they want.” Participants are also urged to make sure their animals are secured.
