Accident temporarily closes Southampton Parkway

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Friday, a two-vehicle accident closed the westbound lanes of Southampton Parkway near Barham’s Hill Road in Drewryville. According to Detective Camden Cobb, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, the roadway was closed for about 30 minutes as crews cleaned up the wreckage.

“[It was] a rear-end collision,” Cobb said, noting that there was one occupant in each vehicle. “One person was flown to Richmond for unknown injuries.”Traffic was able to pass by when one lane was reopened at 11:15 a.m. Both lanes were reopened by 1 p.m. “One of the drivers was issued a summons for an unsafe lane change,” Cobb added.
