The PTA at SP Morton Elementary School is looking for more members.

The cost for one membership is $6, for two household members $10 and for one membership and a PTA member t-shirt is $15.

“National and State PTA’s receive $3.25 from your PTA for each membership purchased, leaving $2.75 remaining right here with your S.P. Morton-PTA,” president of the PTA Josette Sthole-Hayes explained. “We, the students and teachers really need your help. We are calling on ALL moms, dads, grandparents, and teachers to join the PTA this year to help make this PTA school year outstanding!”

The PTA said their number one concern is having a voice for all the children in school. The quote they are basing their goals on is printed on the new shirt design this year.

“Every child’s potential is a reality at SP Morton Elementary.”

Sthole-Hayes said that they make it their job to make sure that what that quote says is actually true for the students at the SP Morton.

“As a S.P. Morton-PTA Member you are Empowered, Informed and Responsible for showing your children that you are dedicated to making a difference in the education, health and safety of S.P. Morton’s students,” she said.

One of the goals the PTA has set forth this year is trying to make the amount of members they have, is higher than last year. The number of members they wish to have is 170.

“I’d like to get 170 members, but if we can get more than that we would be hitting home-runs,” Sthole-Hayes added.

SP Morton PTA has many upcoming events.

The events scheduled for September are the Fall Fundraiser – Yankee Candle – which begins on Sept. 14 and the PTA Business Meeting/ SP Morton Open House will be on Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

The events scheduled in October are on October 1 SP Morton’s DQ Night will be from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., PTA Business Meeting will take place on the 17 at 6:30 p.m. and more.

The PTA also hosts several spirit days throughout the school year and has an appreciation calendar that has the scheduled days they try and do something for different people/groups that work for the school.
