Mildred M. Barnard

FRANKLIN — Mildred Magdalene Barnard, 101, died at East Pavilion on Sept. 5, 2015.

She was born on Nov. 4, 1913, in Lebanon, Kansas, to Lloyd M. and Emma Goldsworth McFarland, and moved to Virginia in 1998.

She attended John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She worked for Wheaton College in Illinois and Horder’s in Chicago. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; a brother, Ivan; and a sister, Ardyce Jost.

She is survived by her daughter, Ardyce Ilene Koenig (Robert); two granddaughters, Diane Morgan (Peter) of Cary, North Carolina; and Joan Woodie (Brett) of Georgetown, Kentucky; and four great-grandchildren, Ashten and Erin Morgan, Brad and Heather Woodie; three brothers, Grady McFarland (Sondra) of Littleton, Colorado; Aubrey McFarland (Wanda) and Kermit McFarland (Mary Nell) of Louisiana, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

Her celebration of life service will be in Wright Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, with the Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. A private burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
