Family members of the late Emma Laverne Britt Seaborne of Southampton County will be hosting a fundraiser in her memory and honor on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion on Armory Drive.

Seaborne fought breast cancer for 13 years before she passed away on June 24, 2010.

Her daughter, Rashona, and sisters, Ann, Sylvia, Mary, Coralee, Ruby, Virginia and Josephine, wanted to do something in honor of their late relative.

“She was always doing something nice for somebody so we wanted to do something nice in her memory,” Ann said.

The fundraiser will be for two different community members — unrelated to the family — who are fighting the battle of breast cancer. The two recipients are Tammy Marie Britt of Southampton County and Ikesha La’Care Myrick of Franklin.

The money will help cover medical bills and other financial struggles that the family is facing while their beloved relative is fighting the disease.

They are encouraging community members to please help these two families by making donations at the fundraiser.

If you are unable to make it to the fundraiser, please send your donations to Ann Sharp Ellison, 21209 Black Creek Road, Franklin, VA, 23851, or she can be reached at 569-9179 or 805-0997.

You can also send donations to Sylvia B. Bowers, 21063 Harris Road, VA, Franklin, 23851, or call her at 569-9045 or 556-4946.
