Franklin schools welcome new staff for new year

The Village at Woods Edge hosted the annual new teacher and staff luncheon for Franklin City Public Schools on Wednesday.

This luncheon recognized all the new staff that will be with the Franklin City Public School System this year, and all of the employees who have recently moved positions within the school system.

The news teachers and staff received many welcoming speeches from leaders in the Franklin community.

Superintendent Dr. Willie Bell was the first to speak and told all the newcomers that FCPS are getting better and they will continue to do so in the future.

School Board Chair Edna R. King spoke on behalf of the school board saying that the school board and the city council are a united team when it comes to education.

“We are here to support you and we want you to succeed in a profession that truly depends on you,” she said.

“We welcome you. We thank you for choosing Franklin. We encourage you to get to know Franklin. We know you are going to do well,” Frank Rabil said on behalf of the city council.

City Manager Randy Martin also welcomed the new teachers and staff.

“We are looking forward to working with all of you,” he said. We really enjoy our relationship with Dr. Bell at the top all the way to the bottom.”

Director of Human Resources Gail Wade ended the luncheon with encouraging words for all.

“We are a train and we are all riding together and we are heading toward success. Let’s kick it off. Let’s go. Let’s be awesome!”
