FRANKLIN
Franklin City Public Schools has now established a new partnership with Franklin Baptist Church.

Franklin Baptist’s Vacation Bible School program encouraged children to donate school supplies for the students at S.P. Morton Elementary School, J.P. King Jr. Middle School and Franklin High School.

Coordinator of Pupil Personnel, Testing and Instruction Travis Felts said, “We are excited to add Franklin Baptist Church to our list of partners and appreciate their support of our students in Franklin City Public Schools.”

The Rev. Brent Kimlick, senior pastor at Franklin Baptist Church said that although the support for FCPS is not new, it has been refocused.

“Through intentional efforts of the congregation and the personal volunteerism of countless members, friends and guests of our church, we continue to try and find ways to connect, encourage and support the teachers, staff and administrators in our local school system,” he said.

Sttudents attending the church’s VBS were asked to bring in supplies and try to “stuff the tent.” Another incentive the church used for the children was the more supplies they brought in, the more a bear moved up a tree in the FBC’s fellowship hall.

By the end of the week the bear made it all the way to the top.

Kimlick continued on in saying that the children who attended VBS did a wonderful job and were more than happy to help other students.

“We thank the children, guardians and parents for helping in this weeklong mission project,” he added.

All of the supplies donated by FBC will be distriuted among the three schools in Franklin. FCPS appreciates the generosity of FBC and the rest of their community partners.
