EDENTON, N.C. — Elizabeth Ann Vellines “Peggy” Joyner, 94, of 1341 Paradise Road, and formerly a resident of both Belvidere, North Carolina, and Franklin, Virginia, died on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Joyner was born in Nansemond County, Virginia, on Jan. 13, 1921, and was a daughter of the late James Samuel and Lillie Belle Vellines.

A homemaker, faithful wife and loving mother, she was a member of Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church in Tyner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Clarence Truman Joyner; her daughter, Trudy J. Vosch; her son, Ron Joyner Sr.; and her siblings, Ruby Vellines, William Vellines, and Lillian Gladys Vellines Beamon.

Surviving are her daughter, Deborah J. Siano and husband, William of Tyner; her son, David Joyner and wife, Joyce, of Franklin; her daughter-in-law, Judy Joyner of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Donna Snow (Nolan) and Gina Wolfe (Russ), both of Missoula, Montana; Robin Smith Crimm (Lee) of Suffolk, Virginia; Linda Smith (Ron) of West Jordan, Utah; Ron Joyner Jr. (Dawn) of Belvidere; Theresa Shuck, Billy Joyner and Stephanie Joyner, all of Virginia Beach; Jason Joyner (Dianne) of Franklin; Anthony Siano (Bonnie) of Youngsville, North Carolina; Angela Siano Noel (Marc) of Ephrata, Washington; and Joseph Siano of Beaverdam, Virginia; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be on Monday at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, and will be officiated by the Rev. Howard Vinson.

Friends may join the family on Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, North Carolina.
