“We are better than last season, way better. The girls have a lot more confidence in themselves. I love the vibe and communication we have with each other,” said Sarah Lyons, a senior on the Franklin High School volleyball team.

The program consists of 22 girls this year: 11 on varsity and 11 on junior varsity. As of right now both teams are practicing together.

Coach Shawn Denne has recently joined the volleyball program and has already made a great impact on the girls.

“We have the dedication this year. We also have a new amazing coach. He works hard with us every day,” said senior Rosemary Idisi.

Likewise, Denne has confidence that the teams will do well this year.

“I’m very hopeful about this season. They work hard and always want to practice. I think we are going to surprise some people,” he said.

Assistant Coach Gorgei, who has been with the girls for a few years, has seen a lot of improvement in the team.

“I think we are really going to have a winning season,” he said.

“I feel really good about my first season because the team has really helped me out. We are like a big bunch of sisters,” said first year player Lillie Phillips.

“I think we will have a great season. We will have more wins than losses this year. We have a lot better chemistry,” added senior Gabrielle Bell.

Franklin’s first game will be a home game on, Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 5:30 pm.

Until then, they will be working hard in the gym constantly improving and preparing for this season.
