A Windsor man died from injuries in a single vehicle accident early Thursday afternoon. The incident took place in the 15000 block of Cedar Grove Road in the Carrollton area of Isle of Wight County, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.

The body was identified as Richard Davis Wilkins of the 8000 block of Peanut Drive, Windsor.

Anaya stated in a press release that VSP were called at approximately 1:52 p.m. to investigate. There they found a 2015 Freightliner, which had driven off the roadway and struck a tree causing minimal damage. Wilkins, 50, was found to be unresponsive, and pronounced dead at the scene by the Isle of Wight EMS Rescue Squad.
