FRANKLIN
Insercorp Ltd., a Franklin, Virginia-based website design and development firm, unveiled new features for the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC) website located at www.hrpdcva.gov.

The upgrades served two purposes: making the website more accessible with a ‘responsive’ design and making it easier to find archived information. This information includes presentations, reports, and meeting agendas for the various committees which are responsible for regional planning with a new “File Library” module for Insercorp’s proprietary web-based content management system, iPlasmaCMS2, which the HRPDC and its sister organizations utilize for Website Administration.

The responsive upgrade improves accessibility to the HRPDC website by making it easier to navigate on mobile devices, from tablets to smartphones on Windows, Android and iOS devices.

The new File Library module brings all of the documents into one system with convenient options for searching and applying filters to quickly and easily find specific files to download. It is the first iPlasmaCMS2 module to feature the new ‘Tag’ system, allowing items to be ‘tagged’ across multiple keywords.

The HRPDC serves as a resource of technical expertise to its member local governments. It provides assistance on local and regional issues pertaining to Economics, Physical and Environmental Planning, Emergency Management, and Transportation. The HRPDC staff also serves as the support staff for the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization, which is responsible for transportation planning and decision-making in the region. As a Virginia Planning District, the HRPDC is also the Affiliate Data Center for our region, providing economic, environmental, transportation, census, and other relevant information to businesses, organizations and citizens. The HRPDC website provides access to this information for public consumption.

Insercorp has been working with the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission since being awarded a contract to re-design HRPDCVA.gov in January of 2012. Insercorp also provides managed dedicated web hosting for the HRPDC. Additionally, Insercorp currently maintains contracts for the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) and Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission (HRTAC), the two sister organizations of the HRPDC, which are also based in the Regional Building in Chesapeake.

The new responsive website for HRPDC can be accessed by personal computer, tablet, or smartphone at www.hrpdcva.gov. The new File Library can be accessed directly at www.hrpdcva.gov/library/.
