Ruth Parker Jones

FRANKLIN — Ruth Parker Jones, 99, passed away on Aug. 6, 2015.

Ruth was born on Jan. 14, 1916, in Danville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Pruden Burden and Cecil John Delona Parker; and two sisters, Helen Parker and Elizabeth Parker.

She was the widow of William Tall Jones.

Ruth is survived by three children, daughter, Elizabeth Ellington and husband, Tom, of Franklin; son, William Tall Jones Jr. and wife, Ann, of Georgetown, Texas; and daughter, Margaret Kramer and husband, Phil, of Carmel, Indiana; six grandchildren, Elisabeth Dixon and husband, Brian; Logan Harrison and husband, Byron; William Jones III; Noel Jones; Margaret Sande and husband, Tyler; and Tall Kramer; and four great-grandchildren, Sarah Harrison, Elisabeth and Ellie Dixon and Darden Sande.

Ruth was a graduate of Westhampton College, and she taught Latin and math in Waverly and Franklin. She was a longtime member of The Franklin Literary Club and an avid bridge player. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church for over 70 years where she taught Sunday School and was a deacon.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in Franklin Baptist Church, led by the Rev. Brent Kimlick. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends at 829 Clay St.
