James Q. Cobb

CARRSVILLE — James “Jake” Quincy Cobb, 86, passed away on Aug. 3, 2015.
He was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, the son of the late Arthur Buck Cobb and Myrtie Tant Cobb.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Jake later went on to work as a carpenter. He was a member of Windsor’s Purdie Masonic Lodge No. 170 where he served as a Past Master. He was a 32nd KCCH degree member of the Portsmouth Scottish Rites and a member of the York Rites Mt. Nebo Royal Arch Chapter No. 20. Jake also served as a former District Deputy Grand Master and recently received his 50-year lifetime membership certificate.
Jake is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jacquelyn Marsh Cobb; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra B. and Todd Rose, and Deborah A. Cobb; son and daughter-in-law, James Michael Cobb and Cindy Lee Cobb; grandchildren, Melissa B. Pierce, Jason Bailey, Joshua Kyle Cobb, Mason Lee Cobb, Kristina Canfield and Kendall Rose; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Kayden Pierce; a sister, Ruth C. Sowers; and a special friend, Jennifer Pitts.
The graveside service with Masonic rites will be on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.
