FRANKLIN — Alphonso “Bud” Pope, 84, retired United States Air Force, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.

Alphonso was born to the late James and Lucy Pope in Newoms, Virginia.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Ernestine Rose Pope; his daughters, Charlene Pope and Terri Brown, both of White Plains, Maryland; Pamela Washington of Waldorf, Maryland; Alfran Gary of Courtland, Virginia; and Becky Pope of Chester, Virginia; his son, Terence Pope of White Plains; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.

Alphonso’s life will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, at 11 a.m., in First Baptist Church, Hall Street, Franklin. Burial with military honors will be at Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin. Mr. Pope will lie in state beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Engram Funeral Home, 1001 Armory Drive, Franklin, is handling the arrangements.
