Thomas Justin “Tommy” Whitehead, 51, passed away on July 23, 2015, at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center in Emporia after several years of declining health.

Tommy was born in Belvidere, Illinois, and was predeceased by his father, Richard George Whitehead; a brother, Christopher Whitehead; a sister, Eileen Wilson; and his stepfather, Luther Wilson.

He was an Army veteran and a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother, Josephine Henry “Jo” Wilson; two sisters, Lynn Poland (Alan) of Hampton, and Jo Ellen Groves of Burke, Virginia; and two nieces, Jessica and Caitlin Groves.

The memorial service will be at a later date, and memorial donations may be made to Franklin Baptist Church.
