Bass Club sponsors tournament for Special Olympics

FRANKLIN
Three Rivers Bass Club sponsored the second annual open benefit bass tournament for Area 29 Special Olympics on July 18 at the Blackwater Boat Landing in Franklin.
First place went to the team of Billy Daniels and Brent Boney with five bass weighing 11.85 pounds. The team of Marty Porter and Harvey Umphlett took second place with four bass weighing 9.86 pounds. Porter also had the heaviest bass of the day at 4.47 pounds.
In third place was the team of Matt Holt and Jonathan Yost with five bass weighing 9.85 pounds. The team of Greg Ball and Jamie Nealy took fourth place with 8.12 pounds followed in fifth place by the team of David Pippins and Amber Harvey with 7.83 pounds.
The winning teams received prizes donated from various sponsors including; trophies and medals and one Bass Pro Shop gift card donated by Bass Pro of Hampton; a rod donated by Ice House Theatre in Selma, North Carolina; two prizes donated by Dashiell’s Showroom; two rods donated by Doug Williams; two Bass Pro gift cards donated by Holt’s Masonry; and other various prizes.
Area 29 Special Olympics received over $700 from the benefit bass tournament. Michael Wise organized the benefit along with Pat Smith of Area 29.
