Medical helicopter makes precautionary landing in Southampton County

Around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Virginia Commonwealth University LifeEvac air ambulance made a precautionary landing at 18000 Rosemont Road, Sedley.

According to VCU spokesman Brian McNeill, the patient, pilot and crew members were not injured.

“The patient was safely delivered to a nearby facility,” McNeill said.

Major Gene Drewery, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, added that deputies and fire and rescue personnel stood by with crew until the patient was transferred to another helicopter.

The cause of the unscheduled landing is still under investigation.
