Alvin Edward Sears Jr., 33, was taken into custody on Saturday after a search following a call to the 400 block of South College Drive. Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police, reported that officers responded to a domestic incident at 9:49 a.m. Saturday.

“Upon arrival they found a female with significant injuries to her face. Investigation revealed that the victim was allegedly punched, choked and slammed to the ground. The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived. Due to the extent of her injuries she was transported to Southampton Memorial Hospital for treatment.”

Sears was remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
