Turner, Blow seek FSEDI reappointment

FRANKLIN
Three-year terms for two board members of Franklin-Southampton Economic Development Inc. are set to expire at the end of the month. Vice Chairman C. Harrell Turner and Secretary Felicia Blow will both seek reappointment following recommendations from the Southampton County Board of Supervisors and Franklin City Council, respectively. The supervisors also nominated Bob Felts, owner of R.M. Felts Packing Company, and Phillip Darden to challenge the incumbents.

The FSEDI Board of Directors, which consists of Chairman E. Warren Beale Jr., Treasurer Harriet Bain Duck and Director Brian Hedgepeth, will make a selection at their July meeting. Harrell and Blow, who make up the remainder of the board, have served since the organization’s inception in 2005.

FSEDI is an economic development organization focusing on marketing, retention of existing industry, small business development, entrepreneurism and tourism. The mission of the organization is to diversity the economic base, create high quality jobs and generate new capital investment for the local tax base.
