A 50-year-old Franklin man was allegedly struck in the face by a homeless woman as he was asleep in his South Street home, said Capt. Timothy Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.
The suspect, Jerlean W. Brown, 62, was still on the scene when officers arrived at 1:32 a.m. on July 3. She was charged with malicious wounding and remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
The victim, George Perry, was bleeding from cuts to the face, according to the report. Brown, who was described by officers as extremely intoxicated, is alleged to have struck him with an unknown object.
Perry was treated and released from Southampton Memorial Hospital.
