Mother Roberson was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she attended regularly, due in part to the generosity of her treasured friend and fellow church member, Melvin “Wink” Sykes. During her many years of service to the glory of God, she served in a number of capacities, including Sunday school teacher, pastor’s aide and deaconess. Before returning to her roots in Adam’s Grove, Mother Roberson was a very active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.

Mother Roberson retired in 1971 from the United States Department of Human Services, where she served in the position of nursing assistant in the Community Health Services Administration Directorate for Preventive Services. Much of her tenure would be spent in child health and maternal clinic services.

She will be greatly missed by her only surviving sibling, Mrs. Johnnie D. Bradley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from near and far. She lists among her godchildren Faith Tennessee, Tiara Wiggins and Melissa Davis.

She was predeceased in death by her husband, Carlos Austin Roberson; two brothers, Paul N. Davis and Russell Parker; seven sisters, Esther S. McGee, Eunice P. Bell, Helen D. Fields, Mattie D. Jackson, Ethel D. Cartwright, Sadie D. Barber and Lydia D. Calviness.

Her family thanks the loving and compassionate staff at Courtland Healthcare who attended to her needs during this difficult time, especially the individuals in Unit C.

Contributions in her memory can be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7300 Southampton Parkway, Drewryville, VA 23844.

The family will celebrate her life on Saturday, July 4, at 11 a.m., in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Davis Family Cemetery, Drewryville.
