What do the school board selection processes in the City of Franklin and Southampton County have in common?

They both stink.

Any process of selecting individuals who oversee the expenditure of public funds and who are entrusted with an institution such as our public schools that does not involve public input is a farce.

The taxpayers in both the city and the county deserve the right to have direct input on the selection of their school board members.

It is time for citizens of each locality to get off the sideline and demand change.
