FRANKLIN
People flocked to the Franklin Bowling Center last Tuesday to celebrate the grand re-opening of Rumors Restaurant and Lounge on Armory Drive.

Franklin Mayor Raystine Johnson-Ashburn, and other members of the city council, cut the ceremonial ribbon before the first customers were served.

“It was a very nice event,” said Teresa Beale, executive director of the Franklin-Southampton Chamber of Commerce. “All the food was delicious. They’ve done an excellent job of revamping the restaurant, and I think it will be great gathering place for the community.”

Cecilia Davis, speaking for Rumors’ management staff, said that this is exactly what the management had in mind.

“Rumors, and the bowling alley itself, is a family oriented place,” Davis said. “We want to provide a place for the whole family, of all age groups, to come hang out and listen to good music and have a nice lunch or dinner. We just wanted there to be a place where everyone could come to hang out.”

Rumors’ menu features a wide selection, from a breakfast menu served all day to seafood, pizza and classic American dinner food. The restaurant is open Monday through Sunday, and local DJs perform in the lounge area every night except for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
